Boot the system without the device attatched. Once booted and on the desktop attatch the device and run:

dmesg | tail -n 20 > ~/dmesg.txt; gedit ~/dmesg.txt; rm ~/dmesg.txt

What is output.

Thanks

Well the kernel didn't react to the attatchment any which is worrying.

Can you have the drive atatched and run:

sudo lshw -C drive; sudo lshw -C disk

Thanks for trying to help me!

Seems as my computer finds all my other drives with that command, but not my Blu-Ray writer.

This was the result:

Something just happened!
After latest update and rebooting suddenly my desktop hand an icon with the BluRay-DVD that I had put in the tray of my BluRay-burner.
Suddenly my computer finds it!

Joy joy joy!

Still, it seems I need to do something more to get it to play the film.
VLC didn't want to show it.

Now the results af the commands you helped me with is as follows:
dmesg | tail -n 20 > ~/dmesg.txt; gedit ~/dmesg.txt; rm ~/dmesg.txt
