Install fail.

Asked by bambi

Please Can Anyone Help,

I have a HP Intel P4, with Windows XP, 1gb Ram, 40gb H\Drive etc.

When I try to run ANY Linux distro via a live disk it will not run.

I put a second empty 20gb drive in to install Linux as a dual boot system.

Again no distro would install ether.

All I get is a black screen with this white text on the bottom of screen.

Int 14: CR2 F8000000 ERR 00000000 EIP C020C384 CS 00000060 Flags: 0001007

Stack: 000F8050 C083F129B C0371D8C 00000002 C00F8059 000F8050 00000000

I even put the 20gb drive into an older machine and got the same result.

Yet, Dam Small Linux did run on both systems but only from a live CD.

I did get each distro to do a disk check, that was all ok.

Thanks.

Please check the install CDs for errors (check the files with the "md5sum")
Please use a modern STABLE linux: for example ubuntu 7.04
If you want more compatibility, i suggest you an alternate media (a text mode installer)

Can you help with this problem?
