Dell Latitude C610 Ubuntu 10.04 does not see CD drive

I was able to install the desktop version of 10.04 on my Dell C610 using cd / dvd drive, but after installation it sees the drive as a floppy drive and will not access it. The drive is a Dell 5044D A02 and it worked fine with Ubuntu 8.04. I have tried a few DVD's and a few data CD's but nothing can be accessed.

Hi,

I had a similar problem and could not mount any drive with 10.04. For some reason the Login for the administrator had changed to a Desktop User. On changing it back I changed the settings and all drives mounted.

Could be a solution.
