Can Ubuntu be installed on an ibook running Mac OS 9

I am trying to find out if Ubuntu can be installed on an old iBook running Mac OS 9.1. If so, which download should I use? Can this be downloaded onto a PC, burned to a CD, and then installed on the Mac? Any help would be appreciated!

As far as i am aware the power pc archetecture is no longer supported on ubuntu as apple have switched to the x86 archetecture. the last version that works on ibooks and such is ubuntu edgy eft which you can get here http://releases.ubuntu.com/6.10/

or if you want a verison that will be supported for longer (if for example you don't see yourself buying a newer laptop anytime soon) you might want to try the Long Term Support version
