Raid 1, seen as two physical disks

Asked by Claus Bobjerg Juul

I have created an 137 GB raid 1 on my Compaq DL320 G2 with two 160 GB IDE/ATA Ultra disks. (hardware raid)
HP/Compaq do not support more then 137 GB disks.

When installing 10.04 it sees two 137 GB disks sda and sdb (they are seen as SCSI disks)

Anyone know why, and when installing to sda will sdb automatically be "updated" or what?

any one have an idea how to verify if the raid is functional

Hi, if it shows as 2 disks on ubuntu is because ubuntu didn't detected the array.

You are using a SMART ARRAY controller for HP. That controller uses the cciss driver, maybe ubuntu didn't detect the correct hardware or the driver is not in the ubuntu Kernel.

You should have a look at the following URL they have information about your controller type:

http://cciss.sourceforge.net/

Can you help with this problem?
