how to turn off something called "Download page links"?

this is when i right click on my mouse,,,also how do i get installed programs from the Ubuntu software center up and running on my computer???also computer is still shutting off by it's self sometimes it shuts off with 5 min. of being on or off line or will shut off within a few hours of being on or off line

You can install stuff usingsoftware centre then use them from the applications menu.

As for the powering off issue, is the system a brandd PC? Is it a laptop or desktop?

ok,once if have installed software from the Ubuntu software center i still can't get program up and running there is a gray box in frount with a ? inside of gray box next to the program that i just installed,,,i have a desktop,,,also how do i get a complet listting of all of my programs that i have on my computer and that i have installed from the Ubuntu and a complet listting of all add-ons that i have installed on to my computer?

if you press ALT+F2 you can type some of the apps name and launch it that way. You can get a list of all installed packages using:

aptitude --display-format '%p' search '?installed!?automatic' > ~/Desktop/my-programs.txt; gedit ~/Desktop/my-programs.txt
