ThinkPad T22 will not shut down properly

Asked by Dylan

I own an IBM ThinkPad T22 laptop computer, which currently runs Ubuntu Dapper with all the updates installed.

About 80% of the time when I attempt to shut down the computer, it stops trying to shut down right after it says "Stopping LVM Volume Groups." After this, I am forced to hold the power button down until the computer is manually powered off.

What is the issue here? Thanks for any replies or suggestions.

Try removing LVM package (if you are not using it) using Synaptic package manager.

I faced the same problem with HP Compaq laptop. When I removed LVM, it worked properly.

Can you help with this problem?
