lost backup files

Asked by Robert

I've recently upgraded to 10.04 (ubuntu) by a clean install.
Before doing so, I backed up some important files (photos) on a 4.7 GB DVD RW using Brasero.
After the installation, I went to put those files back onto the hard drive and noticed that many of the pictures were missing.
I know they were burned on the disk but for some reason they didn't show up on the new os.

What went wrong and how can I get those files back?

Please help...Thank you in advance :)

if you open the CD in nautilus and press CTRL+H the hidden folders will show and they may be there. Why did you not check the CD before formatting?
