Hi :)

Try booting up with the Ubuntu Cd in the cd/dvd-drive and it should get you to a menu with the top (default) option being "Try Ubuntu without changes to this machine"
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD

Please let us know how this goes
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Oh, sorry. I misunderstood you. I thought you can´t boot into the Ubuntu on your hard drive.

Hi :)

Ok, for a guide on getting the Cd to boot properly.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootFromCD

Do you happen to have access to another machine to test the Cd on? If you could do an md5sum check that might tell us if the Cd is the problem
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM#Check%20the%20CD
You can also md5sum check the iso download itself if the Cd fails the check. If the Cd fails but the iso file passes then it might be good to just burn another Cd (preferably using the cheapest blank Cds you can buy as they seem to work better for this)
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM#Check%20the%20iso%20file

If you do have access to another machine and could download and make a Cd of sliTaz then that usually works a lot more easily because it is only 20Mb rather than 800Mb
http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=slitaz
so it is faster to download and even on the slowest burn speed possible it can still be ready quite fast

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
