Assign different static ip address to thin client users from single ubuntu pc

Asked by Anton Tomi

I have got the following items:
* Host pc - Ubuntu 9.04;
* 2 x L230 Ncomputing access devices (thin clients)

I have this NComputing terminal server running on the the Ubuntu (main pc). After installation, I added 2 new users - 'M3' and 'M6'.

I sucessfully logged on the main pc using the two mentioned user names using the thin client devices. CD/DVD and USB devices working perfectly

However, I would like to assign a different static ip address to each user (M3 and M6) so that I my internet cafe client software can succesfully run on it. Is it possible?

Because when I log on to to either M3 or M6 it uses the same ip adress as the host pc.

Internet cafe client software only uses a unique static ip address

You can set the ip in /etc/network/interfaces

Here is a guide:
http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/setting-up-an-network-interfaces-file/

The file is user independent and will not only let you assign the IP but will also let you uninstall the network manager packages which will make your system run slicker and cleaner.
