UB 10.4 no internet after updates

I have installed Ub 10.4 in virtual box 3.18. I have installed also the guest additions of VB. After that I installed new updates. After re-start, no more internet. I uninstalled completely, and redid the installation: same problem. Anyone having the same?

What do you mean by "redid the installation"? You installed a fresh Ubuntu in your virtual machine?

Silly question now: did you check if the network adapter is active in your virtual machine? If you kept the same machine with a wrong setting, a new installation won't fix the problem. Maybe you should delete the machine and create a new one to have the right network setting. Lucid is working fine in my Virtualbox, so the network should work out of the box.

Hello. What I mean with "redid installation" is delete the virtual machine completely and started from the beginning (so installing it anew). I encountered the same internet access problem after the new updates were installed (the host computer had normal access). With your message (above) I checked this morning the network settings and found, that although directly after installation the network (and internet) worked, that the updates somehow switched the netwok i/f to the local host. I selected the ethernet card and now internet worked again. Thanks for your help.
