Tried to duel set up duel boot with vista, not working

Asked by edward10

When i went threw the duel boot process i ran into a few problems. I have vista home premium. I tried ubuntu 6.06 and installed it. Well i am running that and i cant run vista. The drive is still partitioned and i think vista might still be there. I just dont know how to get to it. I dont know if i actually lost vista or if i just need to set up something special. Is there a way to fix this problem? The only OS i can use right now is ubuntu.

Depending on the partitioning you did there are two possibilities. Either you have accidentally used your Windows partition and you erased the data or you have correctly partitioned your free space. If you have done the second thing, your GRUB menu should have a "Other OS" or "Windows" option that you can select when booting. Also, make sure that you installed correctly the boot loader.

it's ok i figured out what happened apperently i cut off part of vista when I installed ubuntu. I looked all over the place for it and I found windows. I used other people questions to answer mine. when i found whindows it spent a really long time loadeing to a blue screen. I am certain that I lost vista for good. Oh well i just have to learn this one really really good. Thank You for the response.

New to the Ubuntu/Linux os and i am looking to install as duel boot on Dell 1521 laptop with Vista Home Premium and i would like to know how much space is recommended for the Ubuntu OS. I have a 10 gig partition that i think i can install it on for now. Any help would be great and i found this post searching for "duel boot with Vista Home Premium". New to the forums as well. Thank you in advance for any help.

Guess before asking about a duel boot, based on what little i have read to this point. It sounds like i may have a problem with the install to begin with, all of what i have read refers to intel processors. I am running and AMD Turion 64 x2 processor with 2 gig ram and 320 gig hdd. Is this going to be a possiblilty for me or should i consider waiting until i can put it on and intel chipset system?
