mysql-administrator fails to bring up main window due to dependency problem

Asked by Don Ziesig

Just upgraded to ubuntu 7.04 from 6.06 and found that mysql-administrator no longer works as before. The mysql-administrator login window runs fine, but when the "Connect" button is pressed it crashes with the following message in the terminal:

"mysql-administrator-bin: symbol lookup error : /usr/lib/libbonoboui-2.so.0: undefined symbol: g_type_register_static_simple"

I did further research and found that g_type_register_static_simple is defined in libpango1 but from a version greater than the 7.04 ubuntu version. When I tried to upgrade libpango, I got a list of other dependencies which had versions greater than 7,04 ubuntu (libc, ...). Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I absolutely need mysql, and would hate to have to downgrade ubuntu so that it works again. Thanks
