can't get 1280x1024 resolution for added monitor

Hi,

I'm trying to get 1280x1024 resolution for my brand new 19' LCD monitor just connected to my THINKPAD A20m IBM ladtop, running with Dapper Drake.

I can't get this resolution option. The only I could choose is 800 x 600 or 640 x 480 (menu preferences -> screen resolution ).

Do you know how I can get or add this new resolution ?

That was very helpful!! I had the exact same problem and that document solved it for me. This is my first time to try and install any Linux OS and I was excited to fix something :)
