dropping back to login since loading 10.04. When in Firefox 3.6.3

Sometimes often and sometimes occasionally when using Firefox 3.6.3 which was loaded whilst installing Ubuntu 10.04 the screen goes black and the brings up a log in screen which requires my name and password. I never had this problem with 9.10 so it presumably is not my gear. Also to confirm this my second computer with 9.10 still behaves perfectly when on the NET.
The sensible first attempt at curing this it seems to me would be the revert to Firefox 3.5 to see if this cures it. But how do I do this or can anyone suggest another cure.

try:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Will give you the mozilla ppa and upgrade your browser to 3.6 for the daily build which may help.

Does the logging off happen with other browsers? Have you tried disabling any addons etc?
