accidentally used htop to kill processes and now network notification is gone from panel.

Asked by jumperfree

I used htop to kill some processes and didn't realize I killed the wireless connection notification in the panel. How do I add it back to the panel when it doesn't offer that selection?

press ALT+F2
type: nm-applet
press ENTER

The icon isn't actually ALWAYS needed, it is only there to configure the system. Once it is setup it is only needed to give messages via libnotify of network outages and the like. Networking will still run (if it it is not told to run at boot) as the service which runs in the background is configured.

Hi :)

If you right-click on the panel and choose "Add to panel" then look for "Indicator Applet"

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

If all else fails you can set them back to default with:

gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel

Which may help.

Can you help with this problem?
