Program shut downs

Asked by ahambidge

Hello,

I upgraded to 10.04 (on an Acer Aspire laptop) on its release date and all is OK with the exception of Google Earth and Skype. Google Earth starts up and comes with a message that it cannot write the cache and suggests a directory that is existent. The program then closes. What can I do to use this program? Skype starts as normal but shuts down completely when I try to do anything.

Both of these programs were working perfectly under 9.10.

Regards,

Allan

Sorry, I make mistake with Google Earth.
You can try to remove all files of Google Earth and then install it again from binary. But I don't know where is program cache with downloaded layers, and if you remove all, you may loose all Earth..

Hello,

The Google Earth download has a bug of which there appears to be a fix related to libcrypto.so.0.9.8 file. I have not been able to get it to work.

Hello,

I have installed a clean 10.04 and Skype and Google Earth now work perfectly.

There is a small problem when upgrading from 9.10, Google Earth will not run. Skype did work after being reinstalled.

Regards,

Allan :)
