upgrade from 8.04 to 10.04 failed - now my machine will not boot - HELP!!!

Asked by tadiv

I got an error about an nvidia package not loading - then at the end of the install there was another message saying that the upgrade failed - then one saying it was complete but that it had errors. GRUB did not get a new menu and is trying to boot off the old kernel (I'm guessing) - and it fails - it is putting me in some odd command line structure...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I found the menu.lst file - it seems that the installer put it on the wrong drive. I copied it over to the correct /boot/grub directory and I'm back in business.
