Ubuntu 10.04 is unstabel how do I fix or go back to 9.10

Asked by Bob

Since installing Ubuntu 10.04 my system has been unstable. I had to boot in with a live disk to see my display.

How can I either fix 10.04 so I can use it or revert to 9.10.

The original problem that lead me to 10.04 was a lack of printer support for a Canon MX850.

I am getting VERY fustrated with Linux. I do like the concept though.

Hi Bob....

There is no official support for stepping backwards.... it would only be nightmare after nightmare.....

10.04 has only been 1 week now and there is a real good chance, after updates start coming through soon, that it will stabilize.

So..... if ya can put up with it for a few days I am confident major issues will be resolved. 10.04 is an LTS release so it has and will have a lot of focus on it for some time.

I appreciate each of your assistance.

I finally got an update installed. I can now see something besides purple and UBUNTU UBUNTU UBUNTU on my monitor.

I will post the original problem that lead me to try the update - Printing with Canon MX850 as a new question and close this thread.
