Canon MP620 + 10.04 lucid lynx

Asked by Tasos Sarris

I would like to know if anyone has tried out the new Ubuntu 10.04 (32 bit), with the Canon MP620 multifunctional printer.
I faced some difficulties to make this printer operational with the 9.04 edition, so I would be glad to know that somebody made it fully work with the 10.04 edition, too.

The printer is a Canon PIXMA MP620

Please do not truncate/shorten product names when asking for support, it makes life a lot easier.

There is also a full official ubuntu page on the printer:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HardwareSupportComponentsPrintersCanonPrintersCanonMP620

Which is made by canonical themselves. Did you not websearch any for this?

I feel sorry about the name. Yes it is Conon pixma MP620R.
At the moment i have been upgraded from 9.04 to 10.04 edition and the printer works perfect.
I am aiming to make a fresh install, and I would like to know if it will be easy to configure the printer again. I mean if the new edition will recognise and install it, or I will have to make websearch again for drivers especially for the Ubuntu 10.04.

thanks

O.K. I will do that. In the meantime, could you please inform me if I could try it runing the live CD?

Sure. You can do anything in the LiveCD you can with an installed system except boot a new kernel.

Since I a bit new to linux, your help makes me better.
Soon I run the live CD for the 10.04 edition, and I will try to install my printer. If this ends succesfully, I will make a fresh installation.
I appreciate your help very much.
