installed, upon first reboot pages of IO error

Intel X86 with Vista . installed 10.04 on its own drive and also tried a shared drive with Vista results same. As the install ended and asked for a reboot and I gave the OK after a few sec it gives me pages of failed IO error and the puter wont boot to anything. Installed a new copy of the operating sys from a recovery disk and tried again same errors each time. Thanks Rog

Boot to liveCD and fsck the disk. You could also download the ultimate boot cd and use the manufacturers too to test the drive at a low level.
