the sound is always mute on lucid

Asked by Antoni Marek

I've got lucid on my computer.
I installed it and after that i saw I haven't got sound.
I saw the speaker icon is muted.
I tried to turn on but it failed.
I can't turn on.
In the sound preferences i can set only three profiles.
I join a screenshots where you can see the sound preferences in three profiles and sound icon.

I was having what might have been a similar problem and I "fixed" it by opening "alsamixer" in a terminal. Can you try opening that up and seeing if you can unmute your sound from in there?

@Dawning when I opened "alsamixer" in terminal, i got "cannot open mixer: No such file or directory".

Please see following bug report:

It seems it would be better if you revert back to Ubuntu 8.04.3 because of your
