I have tried fedora 7 togehter with WinXP. Now i want to try ubuntu instead. Do I need to do anything other then format the partition i have had fedora on and install ubuntu. Without damaging winXP? Do i have to install grub again or will it be install automaicaly?

Why not trying first from the LiveCD?
If you want to install, just choose manual partitioning and use the fedora partition for ubuntu (choose to reformat it there), and grub will be installed automatically.
