Disk Drive for force is not ready yet or not present.

Asked by Bob Dewar

After upgrading to Ubuntu 10.04 I receive a warning that says "The disk drive for force is not ready yet or not present." It presents me with the option to Continue to wait, Press S to skip mounting or M for manual recovery.

If I select S for skip, Ubuntu starts and seems fine but I am concerned that there is a problem that I don't understand.

Can someone point me to some possible causes?

Boot to liveCD and fsck the partition. Use the -a switch
