setting up wifi for Ubuntu with F5D7000

Asked by tahale1

I am an old Windows user. I build and repair computers. I have just finised building a new system with a 2.4 GHz P4 and 2 gig of memory. I'm on a 17 Gb WD HDD and Ubuntu is the only operating system. I can get on the intenet with a cable running across the room to a wireless router but I'd like to set up a Belkin wireless card that I have installed. The OS does not seem to recognise the card. Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to set this up. I have found a driver"?" that I think is supposed to do it but I dont understand how to install it. Its called madwifi-0.9.3.1.tar.bz2 HELP!

Hi!

Have you tried clicking on System---Administration---"Restricted Drivers Manager"? Maybe it can enable the driver you need for your card.
Hope this helps!

I found a very detailed explanation on how to fix my Belkin wireless card at Unbuntu forums. As I stated in my original question I am totaly new to any form of Linux. The walkthrough that I found had every step and link necessary to get things going. Thanks for your input.
