What are the steps to include an application to the ubuntu default distribution?

Hi,

I wanted to know how one would add an application to the ubuntu distribution? We would like to have EiffelStudio available as one of the programming environment for Linux (see http://www.eiffel.com and http://dev.eiffel.com for more details).
