Booting problems of 10.04 with Asrock h55m pro/core i3 530

Asked by McFranzmann

When i was trying to install 10.04 (64bit and 32bit) on my new Asrock H55M PRO Core i3 530 the LiveCD boot stops after the "ATA link down" messages. Alternate did the installation, but failed first boot after it. Couldn't try 9.10, but i think because of its older kernel it wont work. (System got a LG DVD and 4 Gig of Mushkin essentials 1333mhz)
Thanks for helping me:)

Did you add a disk to original configuration ?

Sorry, not sure i got your question right (i'm german).

I used an original iso from ubuntu.com and burnt it on a CD.
I did that with 32bit as well as 64bit. At last i tried it with the alternate one and it installed, but did not boot after the restart.

It may be a problem with the hardwaredetection of the motherboard as well as the cd player. Will test that by booting from USB without the CDPlayer and then tell the result.

Also i tried to just boot without any harddrive connected, but stoped as well.

Hope, i gave you what you asked for.... if not please tell me.

In some web site, I saw they can be problems when SATA and PATA devices are mixed.
And problem can appear when we add a PATA/SATA device.

Will test it without the cd-player...
Hopefully its not the motherboard.

But i can tell that i only used SATA-devices (cd, harddrive).

Well, i think i got it. It seems to be a known bug with the intel-xorg-driver. Adding nomodset to grubs boot options, made it boot with flickerings. Not nice but at least it works...
Anyhow, Thank you for answering.
