More than one sound at same time in Fujitsu Amilo Pa 1538

Asked by Andrés Ignacio Martínez Soto

If you got installed Ubuntu 6.06/6.10/7.04 on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pa1538, you will note that only one sound at the same time, can be played. This notebook has a Realtek ALC883 sound card, identified as a NVIDIA MCp51 card. Alsa loades an intel-snd-hda module, and Alsa version is 1.0.13 that comes by default with Ubuntu 7.04.
To make working more sounds at same time, you must get the latest Alsa driver from here:
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/alsa/snapshot/driver , then unzip and run configure like " ./configure --with-oss=yes --with-sequencer=yes --with-cards=hda-intel " , then make & sudo make install. Reboot notebook and enjoy two or more sounds at same time.
If you can, consider using the latest kernel package 'Linux 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Thu Jun 7 20:19:32 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux' wich makes some improvements over the ACPI system.

Saludos and sorry for my bad english.
