incomplete upgrage from ubuntu studio 9.10 to 10.04

Asked by Karl Kropf

Upgraded from ubuntu studio 9.10 to 10.04 through Update Manager. All went well except two of the main features have not been installed: the Me Menu and the Ubuntu One Music Store.

There does not seem any obvious way to add the features.

To check, I installed from the .iso on a separate partition and found the Me Menu 'voice balloon' on the Gnome panel and Music Store in Rhythmbox.

A similar thing happened in the upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10, where the Software Centre was not installed.

The system is on a Viao VGN-N29VN with a 1.6 Core 2 and 2GB of memory.

if you right click the panel and select add item
can you add it there?

If you boot to the live cd (and even the installed system) and run:

dpkg -l | less

you can read the installed packages and see if anything sounds like the "me" thing you are missing. If it is a package, simply install it.

You can also reinstall the ubuntuone packages to see if that sorts out other stuff

I checked Synaptic in the newly installed version and found the packages.

Me Menu is (amongst others):
indicator-applet-session and
indicator-me

For the Music Store it is (unsurprisingly)
rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store,

which is a plug-in to Rhythmbox.

Thanks for the well aimed prompt.
