nForce 8100 (720a) on Ubuntu 8.04

Asked by Matt Smith

I am having all sorts of grief trying to get an NVidia nForce chipset driver for 8.04. The build has come from a vendor and as far as I know cannot be upgraded to a different Ubuntu version. I am quite new to Linux/Ubuntu. Is there a specific set of drivers I need to get, and if so, where from and how? Sorry for the n00bish question...

Thanks,
Matt

you can upgrade if you want to do, and

the graphics/sound drivers are usually available as well.

to get the drivers in your system>administrator>software sources

open and check in all boxes under the third party and update tabs

close>accept reload>close

in System>admin. >drivers you should have options

next goto reopen the Sys>admin>software source. and change the update to daily and normal release

now in the sys>admin>update manager you should see update availabe if needed perform then

you should also see a box stating update to 8.10 is available . because of the new release you may want to wait a few days

hope that helps dont give up!!! and make sure you check back if this helped or you need more info

Can you help with this problem?
