Ubuntu does not go past first screen

Asked by Kristen Osborne

My computer had windows on it which crashed and I was told that I could use Ubuntu to access my files before I format the computer. I visited a tech desk where they did this but I didn't get to finish the file transfer so they told me I could download the cd myself and continue it. I downloaded the file and burned it to a DVD but now when I put the disk in I get to the first screen where it says "Try Ubuntu without any change to your computer, Install Ubuntu . . ." But when I click on any of the options nothing further happens. You can hear the computer trying to continue but nothing happens. Is it a problem with the DVD download?
