Can not get my printer to work

My printer light is on, just inserted new ink, still trying to print. Dialog box says connected, still not working. Canceled all printing jobs waiting to be printed for two weeks.
Tried to delete printer so I could use CD to reinstall and that didn't work.
Please use simple terms when sending answers to me please, I can use computers, just not the least bit technical.

hi sorry your having trouble under your applications>acessories>terminal

type: lsmod

and post the results here

also please type or paste in :

cat /etc/issue

you may also try to use the command

lpc and or printf to get it running in the meantime
