No system sounds in Lucid

After recent dist-upgrades the system sounds in my Lucid Beta are no more working. Other audio functions are all fine, but no "system" sounds at all (boot sound, firefox warning messages, thunderbird audio notification, etc...).

In System->Preferences->Sound I have enabled "Ubuntu" theme.

Lol, it is better to ask the question and then mark it solved. If you had not asked you might never have found the answer! There's no harm and no inconvenience to anyone and perhaps it might even help someone in the future! ;))
