I use nVIDIA Geforce 6200 and cant install 7.04

Asked by vivekraj

My motherboard is Intel 915 G.I use nVIDIA graphics card which i recently bought. When i installed 7.04 before buying my graphics card there were no problems. But unfortunately I had to reinstall my XP and thus i was no longer able to use Ubuntu so i formatted the partition where Ubuntu was installed to NTFS so that i could use it for my XP.recently i installed my graphics card(nVIDIA Geforce 6200 Turbo) and then thought of installing Ubuntu again. But during install (at the time when drivers and all other things are loaded ;the start of install) a message popped up showing that my display device was not supported and i was asked to select the appropriate driver. But i am not an experienced Ubuntu user so restarted my computer and logged on to XP.Please help me on this issue. And one last thing.I am almost new and inexperienced. So please answer the questions in a simple language

I have Ubuntu 7.04 32-bit running on this machine (http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=1&l2=2&l3=0&model=508&modelmenu=1) with this graphics card (http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=2&l2=7&l3=140&l4=0&model=484&modelmenu=1) without problems, so can I provide any configuration details for this card. Please let me know what information you think will be helpful

You may have better luck with proprietary NVIDIA drivers. Please perform these commands from the console:

sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx
sudo nvidia-glx-config enable

and reboot the machine. These commands, though, almost certainly will not help if your installation of Ubuntu was not complete

yes.. try your luck with sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx
sudo nvidia-glx-config enable and reboot..
But you are telling that at loading drivers stage errors will come..
I doubt if this works.. Give it a try....
