lucid beta2 hang. how to diagnose?

Hi,
I have a workstation that runs perfectly fine with Hardy 64bit. Using lucid beta2 64bit via a usb drive (live CD), the system hangs about 30 seconds after booting to the desktop. This is a hard lock- have to hold the power button down to restart.

This is a pretty serious problem, but I can't really submit a bug report because I can't collect any useful info. (I did manage to collect the output of dmesg once.)

Any suggestions for how to proceed? I'd like to be able to provide useful bug info feedback.

Did you MD5 test the file you downloaded?
Have you tried some boot options? or disabling some hardware in BIOS?

Can you help with this problem?
