opening lit files

I have some books in lit files. How can I open those files in Ubuntu 8.10 ?

Use an ebook reader like calibre or fbreader. Or better still, convert from this proprietary format to an open-source one like EPUB, using epub-utils package (but then, to open EPUB you'd need fbreader or calibre). When having trouble with any format, try searching for it in Synaptic. There's also a package called convlit to convert LIT files to HTML. Calibre is an excellent option when converting ebooks to a number of formats (PDF, EPUB, txt..)
