there are several codecs that can be found in the System>Administor>Synaptic package. Make sure first you go to your software sources in the same listing and check all boxes in the submenu for pre-release, backports, unsupported , etc..

you may be able to find what your looking for in the media or sound section depending on the program you want to use

one i know used to work was the "sox" series but it may have since been altered.

xine also was a player/converter that was wonderful.

make sure you have a compatible format i.e. mp4 or whatever as well

in development you may try dvd+rw-tool-dbg, you might also check into phonon-backend-xine in multi media

hope that helps

okay. I start out by captireing my video with Kino then i have been unable to burn using kino so i tried dvdstyleist wich i really like the options. when I export the file from KIno to be used in dvd styleist this is what i do.

I go to export and select mpeg, in the optioin i use dvd-8 deinterlace none, output dvdauthor none then export the file as a mpeg to be used in dvd styleist

right gotcha i dont have a cam but to try to load several tracks from my digital processor and make a music w/ media cd such as pictures for tracks or cover seems wierd as well the file browser doesnt recognize my "no label" or mini san disc 4g that is holding some of my tracks

i might suggest saving the file to desktop or werever you want to work on it and use dvdisaster from synaptic >in conjuntion

this is more work and the answer should be in the programming however i wouldn t want an xp to laugh at u

i dont know if that will clear up the problem for you but im going to try work around the later issue myself and ill let you know

hey so a couple of things you cannot load audio without video ' i'm assuming if youve used an external recorder and you want to create a slice this will be great

also when i followed the guide "help" and tried to copy an episode of breaking bad that was labeled and just gave it a start button and saved it to burn i pulled the disc out put in a blank and got this

XML Parsing Error: prefix not bound to a namespace
Location: file:///home/subliminalfix/Desktop/attempt.xml
Line Number 20, Column 19: <linearGradient xlink:href="#linearGradient1755" gradientTransform="matrix(1.08961,0,0,0.327651,2.57579,-0.672159)" x2="80.4%" gradientUnits="userSpaceOnUse" y2="10%" y1="300%" x1="80.4%" id="linearGradient11189"/>
------------------^

perhaps ill copy the episode to a temp folder and try it from there ??

seems to want to work just a little moody

Hi :)

Have you worked through the Medibuntu worksheet since install or upgrade?
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu
this usually sorts most multimedia issues in one easy session.

Apparently something like 50 to 25% of Windows machines suffer from viruses. Also file-transfer rates are slower on Windows machines. If you have a movie on cd/dvd and start copying it onto your hard-drive you can start playing the movie from the hard-drive before the copying is complete (although fast fwd&rewind wont work). Fire writing & wobbly windows seem to impress most people although i switch them off when i have stuff i need to get on with. Windows also gets slow-downs & suffers from fragmentation. Also Windows updates interrupt everything else where linux politely reminds you that updates are ready but doesn't keep hassling you about them. Try installing "clamtk" and time how long a virus scan takes lol

How soon is he going to upgrade from Xp which is obsolete & unsupported to Win 7 which cost a little bit more than linux? At the end of the day tho just don't worry about what other people think. Ghandi said "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win"
