epson stylus S21 working fine on koala, not on lucid beta2

The Epson Stylus S21 printer used to work just fine on Koala, but stopped working after i upgraded to Lucid beta2.
the printer is correctly recognized, but the print job gets added, then deleted.
i've tried removing the printer and letting ubuntu recognize it again. it still doesn't work.
any suggestions?

Lucid is Beta and NOT released so will have many bugs and glitches

I have just took the packages "libgutenprint2_5.2.4-0ubuntu2" and "cups-driver-gutenprint_5.2.4-0ubuntu2" from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gutenprint/ and installed them after having removed their 5.2.5 counterparts. The printer works as before. I know it's just a downgrade, not a bugfix, but....
