I installed ubuntu 9.10 inside Windows xp professional. When the system boots it displays

“Ubundu Linux 2.6.31-14-generic
Ubundu Linux 2.6.31-14-generic (recovery mode)
Memory test (memtest 86+)
Memory test (memtest 86+, serial console 115200)
Microsoft windows xp professional (on/dev/sda1)”

with the first one highlighted. If we do nothing ubundu will start. (If we select windows xp-the last one- it will).
Can we change the option to start windows xp first?

Boot into Ubuntu, then open a terminal by going to:
Applications > Accessories > Terminal

Now type the following set of commands:
cd /etc/grub.d
sudo mv 30_os-prober 08_os-prober
(At this point you'll be asked to enter your password)
sudo update-grub

That should put Windows at the top of the list, making it the default boot option.
