errno 5 input/output error plus 2 errors in the disk when i chose the option"check disk "from ubuntu 9.10 disk ordered from canonical

first of all
when i chescked disk it showed 2 errors
then during installtion at 30% error comes"errno 5 input/output"
i ordered cd from canonical
so i think there should not be any problem with it

Do you have a second cd drive? Could you try it with the second one if you do?

The CD might be bad. You could always contact Canonical and request another if it is. Or you could download and burn one yourself from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

i dont have a second cd drive
but can u please tell how to clean the one i have installed.
or its the problem of ram .
i have i ram of 256 mb of simmtronics and second of 512mb of local company.
please suggest some solution Chauncellor .

someone told that this method works but it not worked for me
1. Boot from the live CD
2. Choose to try Ubuntu
3. Open a terminal window
4. Enter: 'uniquity --no-migration-assistant'
5. Working install

The minimum requirements for regular Ubuntu are 512 MB of RAM. Even if you could boot it, it would not be wise to install Ubuntu on a machine with such low specs. You have a few options:

1) Upgrade your RAM
2) Check out the more lightweight forks of Ubuntu. Xubuntu and Lubuntu are probably the best (I like Xubuntu). Here are some links:
