Unlocked screen on waking up.

Asked by arko

I am using Ubuntu 9.10, 32bit (running GNOME 2.28.1), with nVidia GeForce 8200M G. When the laptop resumes from hibernation, I expect it to wake up to a locked screen. The system was behaving up to expectations two days ago. However, for the last two days, the system wakes up to an unlocked screen and logs me into my account automatically.

I have checked the Login Screen configuration. It is NOT set to log me in automatically.

Hi.

Here are some steps that can ensure locking upon resume:

1) Alt-F2 to bring up the "Run Application" dialog
2) Type in "gconf-editor"
3) Search (control-f) for "lock" in the window that pops up.
4) Click on the /apps/gnome-power-manager/lock result that shows at the bottom (second from top for me)
5) Find the "hibernate" option and check it.

This should fix your problem.

Some more info:

If you want the setting from your screensaver preferences to apply to waking up from suspend or hibernate, then disregard checking the "hibernate" option and instead check the "use_screensaver_settings" option.

Can you help with this problem?
