Can 2.6.33 kernel be installed in Ubuntu 9.10?

Asked by Jon Colt

I am a real newbie, but have been following Ubuntu for a long time. Have 9.10 installed on an Acer Aspire One and 9.04 (soon to be upgraded to 9.10) installed on an HP 2133 (both work beautifully, by the way). I would like to install a SSD with TRIM capability in both machines. I understand that TRIM is fully supported in the 2.6.33 kernel. Can one install 2.6.33 in place of 2.6.31 in v. 9.10? I have a relatively good relationship with the terminal (would rather use it than a GUI), and bash and Linux commands, so I feel confident I could follow directions you would provide.
Many thanks in advance, and warmest regards.

Yes, I think this ought to do it; I just need to try it out.
