XP ehternet not working with ubuntu dual boot. ubutu being the Primary OS.

Asked by shar_m

I installed XP with Ubuntu already on my Desktop computer. Once I boot into the XP Operating System, I am not able to get to the Internet to be able to download the needed drivers or any thing else. For some reasons, XP does not recognize the Ethernet adapter under device manager. I tried to download the Ethernet drivers explicitly from other machine and installed on XP, I see I got the Ethernet icon under sys tray but still no Internet.

Please let me know If I am missing anything.

This system is for Ubuntu support, not Windows, so this is offtopic.

However, it could be using a manually configured IP address which is wrong, or it could be using auto (DHCP) when it needs to be configured manually. You could look in your Ubuntu network settings to see how it's configured then configure the Windows side in a similar way.

ok just remove the nic (LAN CARD) and refit it in the same slot.... if found new hw appears on the window then fine otherwise reinstall xp or get a new copy of xp.
