Asked by kenleung

Hi i am new to ubuntu, I had the same problem of other people as my window will not boot up and installed the live cd and hoping that I will be able to transfer my files from the window c drive to a remote drive and also change the name of a file in system32 to fix the problem. followed some instruction in the FAQ section and created dir for the drive, but then i could not mount or do any thing else to as to view it.

If your system does not boot and your C:\ drive is not displayed in Ubuntu, there is a strong chance that your hard drive has malfunctioned. Open the ubuntu disk utility, and check if you see the drive. If so, check it for errors. If not, it is quite possible that the drive has died. Is it making any odd noises/clicks?
