Cannot connect to windows machine
Using Unbuntu 9.10 on a Compaq Persario V2000 which connects fine to the router but when I go Places/Network I do not see the Windows machine to connect to which is Vista 64 bit.
In the Networks folder there is an icon that shows "Windows Network" when I try to open it up it says "Unable to mount location / Failed to retrieve share list from server".
In the past I never had to do this I just clicked on myname-pc-wireless and was able to transfer files back and fourth. Can this be fixed? What do I need to do?

Do you have a folder shared on the windows pc?

I'm pretty sure I do. I uninstalled my firewall on Ubuntu and now it will let me click into Windows Networks and then let me click and open WORKGROUP but when I click myname-PC-Wireless it says unable to mount. One thing I have noticed before I did not need to go that far myname-PC-Wireless was right there after I open networks folder.

I don't know whether this is of any use :-
Can you help with this problem?
