Ok in this case the GUI is absolute garbage and no help at all.

In a terminal run:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade

Give the output here as an update.

ok /usr/lib/apt/methods/htttp is a binary file (a program). I suggest you boot to the live CD and copy the file from the live environment onto your partition in the right place. before though can you give the output of:

file /usr/lib/apt/methods/htttp

Thanks
