port forwarding

Asked by aneesh

Suppose I want to run a print job to the printer (that is in my local lan) from a remote location,Both ends have static public address. Let's further say my static public IP address is w.x.y.z and internal private lan pc address is 192.168.0.250 which has printer attached .Here I want to know what is the criteria to select a port number for port forward and what are the settings to be done in local lan sytem (which has printer attached ) and router ? How can I run a print job from remote location ? Can I connect the local lan printer to remote location using it public ip (w.x.y.z) or private ip 192.168.0.250 ?

Depends how you share the printer, if you use the CUPS method you will use port 631 TCP

Can you help with this problem?
