how to open pdf document

Is there any other program other than acrobat reader for open pdf document ?

Yes, Ubuntu comes with its default pdf reader. Its name is evince. If you double click on a pdf file it will open your file.

My Ubuntu 10.04 is suddenly sending the following error message when I try to open pdf files that were opened previously with no problem:

pdf could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences.
