Ubuntu 9.04 No internet connection

Asked by Syd Martin

I have just loaded 9.04 J.J. and cannot get the internet with firefox. I have:
 1. gone to address bar and input about:config
 2. found network.dnsdisableIPv6
 3. Right click toggle and set to true
 4. Restarted ..........................................Nothing..... So!

I have printed off ubuntu Wireless troubleshooting and gone through the lot. Nothing

I have to wait a long time to be told I am connected. I have to keep authorizing and then when I request a page all I get is Address not found, and I have 4 bars of connection showing.

I am not a computer geek and this is driving me wild.

Can someone please help me.

Regards,

Syd martin

Are you being assigned an IP by a DHCP enabled server? Also have you checked if the server is passing you correct DNS server details?

Issue command
$ ifconfig
to check ip and to contact DHCP server use
$ sudo dhcp

ifconfig -a - will show all interfaces (active or not)
sudo dhclient - will attempt to get an IP address
sudo lshw -C network - will provide information about the interfaces

Can you help with this problem?
