Does anyone know of a music program that will work with Fiesty Fawn, to download and burn music? Unfortuantely this is very new to me and not to familar with Ubuntu. The peson who downloaded and set it up for me didn't give me a disc. When I want to download other programs that are on my computer it won't let me it keeps telling me to put in the disc I thought if the program was downloaded on the computer I had open access to it, guess not... This is so different from Windows xp

Hello Debbie,
to install programs on your computer you can use two different methods:
1. gnome-panel upper left side ->applications->add / remove->select the applications and hit aply
2. gnome-panel upper left side ->system->administration->synaptic package manager->search the application you need->mark the application to install and ->hit aply

These tools use online repository's to download and install the applications. Its possible that these sources disabled or not activated to activate these software sources go gnome-panel->system->administration->software sources->and activate from the first tab the first 4 checkboxes->select Main server on the pull down menu down from

Now it should be possible to download and install applications.

To listen music use rhythmbox player this player should be installed if not use way no.1. Its possible that the codecs for mp3 / wma not installed because they are restricted code which means that there are protected under other licenses. To install this codecs use this descriptions:
general informations about multimedia
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MultimediaApplications
information about restricted formats
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

For burning a music cd you can use the cd/dvd burn application gnome baker with this tool you can burn, for example mp3 cds or audio cds (convert mp3 in cd audio format)

So i hope that this informations are a ground from which you can start and have fun

Mathias
